NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS IN THE CENSUS TEXTING PROGRAM

The Paso del Norte Complete Count Committee would like to partner with your NA to encourage Census participation your area.

Dear Neighborhood Association President,
You are a trusted voice in your community. The Paso del Norte Complete Count Committee would like to partner with you to encourage Census participation in your neighborhood.
The Complete Count Committee is an organization of over 100 elected officials, nonprofit and community organizations, local businesses, and community members dedicated to ensuring a complete 2020 Census count for El Paso County. If not counted accurately, El Paso County would feel a loss of over $15,710 in federal dollars per person, over the next 10 years. This includes critical funding for hospitals, health centers, roads, and our schools! The impact of the loss could be tremendous throughout our community for the next decade.
The CCC is launching a Text Message Program in hard-to-count areas of El Paso and would like your neighborhood to participate by sending text messages to your neighbors. Anyone can join the Census Text Message Program by texting "Census" or "Censo" to (915) 621-2424. Would you like to support the texting program by including information about how to participate in your N.A. newsletters, and posting on social media? If so, I can connect you with Micayla, who is managing the program. Her email is micayla@taylorcollective.com »
Thank you in advance for your assistance. Your participation is crucial to the success of our Text Message initiative to reach the hardest to count communities in El Paso County. Together, we can ensure a complete count for El Paso!

MESSAGE FROM THE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT

We would like to remind everyone the outreach program of the Environmental Services Department is still here to serve. We are evaluating the way we have done outreach in the past and want to place a new plan that will take into consideration our "new normal".
However, we need your help to move forward. Please take the time and answer the following questions. You may submit them to ESDOutreach@elpasotexas.gov ».  We also welcome any recommendations or suggestions to improve our outreach efforts during this challenging time.

So c'mon and let’s talk trash!

  • Is your neighborhood association still holding regular meetings?
  • If so, what methods are you using to conduct meetings (virtual, email, phone calls, group text)?
  • Does your neighborhood association have a social media presence (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter)?
  • What type of ESD services (Recycling, Citizen Collection Stations, Code, ESD app, etc.) would your association like to hear about?
  • Would you attend virtual presentations hosted by the ESD Outreach program?

If you have any questions, you may contact the ESD team at ESDOutreach@elpasotexas.gov »

UMC, EPCH AND TTP EL PASO URGE RECOVERED EL PASOANS TO DONATE CONVALESCENT PLASMA TO FIGHT COVID-19

EL PASO, Texas – University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC), El Paso Children’s Hospital (EPCH) and Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso (TTP El Paso) urge any individuals who have fully recovered from novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to donate convalescent plasma as a key weapon in the fight against the virus.

Vitalant, the nation's largest independent blood provider, has launched a program to treat COVID-19 patients with blood plasma donated by people who have recovered from the disease. Known as "convalescent plasma," this blood component contains antibodies that may give patients an extra boost to fight their illness. In coordination with local hospitals, Vitalant is working to identify willing donors who qualify for this type of donation.[...]

CORONA VIRUS - STATUS

03/17/2020

CAUTION WITH CORONA - RELATED ONLINE SOURCES

Please be advised to remain vigilant about fake websites and information related to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
There has been a significant rise in website registrations related to the COVID-19 virus, some of which are being used to steal information or infect visitors with malware. Even a map, claiming to indicate the latest cases, reportedly has been used to spread malware.

Please make sure ONLY to trust OFFICIAL SOURCES, like the CDC.

Best Practice: When hovering the mouse cursor over a link without clicking, after a short delay a small pop-up window shows on the left bottom of the screen, indicating the address (target) of the link (here 'cdc.gov/...'). This practice also works with emails. If unknown or awkward, dismiss, don't click!
CAUTION WITH CORONA_RELATED ONLINE SOURCES

Also be aware that ANY website, even official ones, can be hacked. Please make sure to keep your computer antivirus and anti-malware software updated.
